Boast only in Christ

We shouldn't boast of what we have achieved nor possessions, we should boast only in Christ. Meaning: Everything that we do in this life are hopeless apart from Christ. So when we boast in Christ, we always remember it is not our work but Christ's work. That's why Gospel is not only for unbelievers but for believers as well.

Menjadi Saksi? Yang penting berbuat baik?

Satu minggu ini saya terusik dengan bagaimana seharusnya kita menjadi saksi Kristus di manapun kita berada. Apakah hanya dengan berbuat baik saja cukup? Kalau memang hanya cukup berbuat baik, bukankah orang lain yang tidak percaya kepada Kristus juga banyak lebih baik daripada kita?

Kita harus menyadari bahwa menjadi Saksi Kristus bukan hanya berhenti dengan berbuat baik, namun Injil Kristus haruslah diberitakan. Memang perbuatan baik itu bisa menjadi celah agar orang lain dapat bertanya mengapa kita berubah menjadi 'baik', jawaban yang seringkali kita temui adalah, "Karena Kristus telah merubah hidup saya", tapi cukupkah hanya memberitakan perubahan yang terjadi dalam diri kita? Atau kita tetap harus memberitakan Injil tersebut, yang menekankan bahwa keselamatan bukan karena usaha kita menjadi lebih baik, namun karena kasih Karunia di dalam Kristus Yesus.

Seringkali kita memakai kata "Menjadi saksi dengan tingkah laku kita" hanyalah menjadi satu alasan untuk membenarkan diri karena tidak memberitakan bahwa Kristus Yesus adalah Tuhan dan Juruselamat. Seringkali kita takut dan hanya berkata "Yang penting berbuat baik, tidak usah banyak bicara".

Memang tidak dapat dipungkiri banyak orang yang terlalu banyak bicara tapi tidak ada perbuatannya; inipun salah, kalau memang kita sudah diselamatkan oleh kasih karunia bukankah seharusnya perbuatan baik itu adalah menjadi salah satu tanda yang mengikuti?

Marilah kita menjadi saksi bukan hanya melalui perbuatan baik kita, namun melalui mulut kita untuk menceritakan tentang Kasih Kristus yang menyelamatkan kita dari dosa.
